Taiwan Tungsten Carbide SG Series Materials

Years of deep involvement in the stamping and forging tooling industry have given us a thorough understanding of our customers' operational needs. In the manufacturing of stainless steel screws and fasteners, poor tool life cannot be viewed in isolation—it requires a comprehensive evaluation of workpiece material properties, forming conditions, and contact wear mechanisms.

In common nickel-bearing austenitic stainless steels, cold forming induces pronounced work hardening. As plastic deformation accumulates, the workpiece's resistance to further deformation rises, driving up forming loads and subjecting the tooling to far more punishing operating conditions.

Furthermore, under high contact pressures and relative sliding—especially in the presence of insufficient lubrication—the interface between the stainless steel and the carbide tooling is prone to material transfer, adhesion (galling), and abrasive wear. Over time, this deteriorates both the tool's working surfaces and the surface quality of the finished parts.

These specific forming behaviors served as the primary design considerations behind our SG Series tungsten carbide materials.

At Taiwanalloy, we translate decades of hands-on tooling experience into material formulation design. To tackle die life challenges in stainless steel screw and fastener production, we adjust carbide formulations and integrate specific alloying elements to engineer specialized SG Series grades tailored for demanding applications.

Our material customization capabilities start directly with the practical issues faced by end-users. By analyzing the workpiece alloy, forming conditions, and tool failure modes, we identify targeted paths for improvement—moving beyond standard off-the-shelf market grades.

The SG Series is engineered to optimize performance and extend die life in stainless steel cold forming, continually refined through real-world production feedback.

If you are facing tool life constraints in your stainless steel screw or fastener operations, we welcome the opportunity to discuss your application and evaluate how the SG Series can support your process.
